Year in review

I am driven by my passionate beliefs in family, loyalty, and recognition. I pursue these passions by utilizing my core strengths of honesty, perseverance, and curiosity. I try to live out these values through opportunities where I am communicating and learning to achieve globalization and leadership that impacts communities and professional expertise. To do so, I aim to seek opportunities to make research driven changes and develop new technology.

The University Honors Program gives students the ability to focus on their holistic development and work towards becoming a global citizen. I am inspired and motivated to challenge myself into broadening my horizon and pushing myself to the limits.  UHP students have the opportunity to engage in experiential learning projects that focus on community engagement, creativity, global studies, leadership, and research. I believe that in today’s world where politics and human welfare prove to be a burning issue, it is extremely important to be educated on global affairs and invest in community building. At the same time, the rapid advancement of technology also requires us to invest in research so that people are able to make their creative ideas a reality. I would like the opportunity to be a part of this revolution of our generation. As Muhammad Ali once famously said, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth”, I would like to do as much as I can for the community and I believe that being a member of the University Honors Program at UC will be the first step of my achievement.

My primary passion is traveling, exploring, and absorbing new cultures. I have had the privilege of living in multiple countries throughout my life and have visited many more. Over the years, I have been able to develop another passion of mine which is teaching and learning. My main aim is to be able to merge these two passions of mine. In the past, I have been able to go on mission trips to low poverty areas and communicate with people from various walks of life. In many of the destinations, I had noticed that a lot of female students were unable to continue their education past middle school as they had pressures from their families to get married. I was then granted the opportunity to host biweekly classes as I taught young adults spoken English and mentored them for job applications. This experience was particularly eye-opening for me because I realized the privilege that I had that granted me education and allowed me to go to school every day. As I started my undergraduate program at UC, I wanted to be able to continue my passion of teaching, so I joined Bearcat Buddies. Bearcat Buddies is an organization that allows UC students to tutor children enrolled in various public schools in Cincinnati. Before I graduate, I am interested in a study abroad opportunity to a country that I haven’t been to yet. I would like to continue to enrich myself with the culture and at the same time discover the potential reasons that prevent children from completing their education in that location. After I graduate, I would like to continue to be able to merge my passions and continue in the lines of teaching.

I believe that my experience as a Resident Adviser at UC has helped me to develop my leadership skills as I emphasized on community building and community engagement in the residence halls. My summer position as an undergraduate researcher has also given me an insight to research and I have developed the ability to improve understanding and seek answers. Therefore, I am specifically interested in a creative experience or opportunity that will guide me in the direction of my graduate thesis. I believe that creativity is the essence of success in today’s world especially with the advancement of technology.

My experiences have led me to understand that I am very privileged to be continuing my education and seeking my degree. To become a global citizen scholar, I would like to use all the resources that I have access to and to lead innovative efforts to create an impact in society. I believe that UHP has given me the opportunity to holistically grow and develop in to a responsible global citizen. It has been an honor to be able to invest in my passion while seeking my Mechanical Engineering Bachelor’s degree by maximizing my undergraduate experience.

At this point, I am almost at the end of my undergraduate studies and I am primarily focusing on discovering ways in which I can pursue my Mechanical Engineering degree to the graduate program. Because of my interest in Robotics and Automation, I have been able to add that as my minor and will be pursuing my Senior Design project in the same. I hope to be able to eventually continue research in Robotics and Automation and tie that in with the Healthcare field at a Graduate level of study. My primary objective is still do be able to make an positive impact for humanity and UHP allows me to explore ways in which I can use my Mechanical Engineering degree to achieve my goal. I would like to continue to be able to conduct research in various fields in order to find the most effective and efficient way to contribute to society.

In particular, my Resident Adviser role has really allowed me to interact with people from all walks of life and hear their stories which further motivates me to pursue my goal. I look forward to continuing to be a Resident Adviser to continue to enrich myself with other people's backgrounds and also serve as a first hand resource and role model by helping those around me.
